Proviso Math & Science Academy Ranks Among Illinois' Top 50

The Chicago Tribune reported on Friday, October 31, 2008 that the Proviso Math and Science Academy in Proviso Township High Schools District 209 ranks in the top 50 of Illinois High Schools. The Proviso Math and Science Academy opened in August 2005 after Board President Emanuel "Chris" Welch led the Board in the development of the school. In July 2004, the Chicago Sun-Times gave the Board critical acclaim and praised Welch and the Board for their vision. Congratulations Proviso!!!!

When you put the best teachers in the best school in the district with the best students and resources in the district what do you Expect?

I want to congratulate Chris Welch and the school board. Welch made some tough decisions in the face of opposition in the community, and his vision is coming to full light. Welch and the board have brought one of the top high schools to the community, and we should all be proud of that. Also, anonymous, your premise is flawed because I don't think any of the students at PMSA would be at Proviso if we didn't have PMSA. They would be in private school somewhere. Also, last I checked, none of the PMSA teachers have ever worked at East or West and probably would not have applied to work at East or West. PMSA is giving District 209 new hope.
